Description
Description Summary: The Analytics Engineer, Finance and Operations owns the semantic layer and certified datasets that Finance, Project Controls, and Data Center Operations rely on. You will work directly with business units, the PMO, and Finance to model schemas, define governed metrics, and deliver Power BI dashboards that reconcile to financial and operational systems. You will elicit requirements, translate business logic into trusted models, and manage data contracts and curation across sources so leaders have one version of the truth. This role is hands on and outcome focused, enabling faster close cycles, clearer project visibility, and reliable operational reporting in a mission critical digital infrastructure and construction environment. Essential Duties: Model subject areas for projects, costs, revenue, procurement, labor, and capacity as clean dimensional schemas that support reusable, governed metrics across Finance and Operations. Build, publish, and maintain certified Power BI datasets and reports, including DAX measures, data refresh schedules, performance tuning, and security aligned to access policies. Define and maintain a metrics catalog and data dictionary that provide one version of the truth for margin, forecast accuracy, change orders, and close cycle KPIs. Validate numbers with automated tests, reconciliation to source systems and the general ledger, and documented acceptance criteria with Finance and Project Controls. Collaborate with business units, the PMO, and Finance, partnering with the Senior Engineers or Platform teams to turn curated tables into reliable semantic models, and design for graceful adaptation to upstream schema changes. Enable secure self-service by coaching super users, publishing certified datasets, and maintaining clear usage guidelines and change notes. Embed security and compliance practices by design, including access reviews, SoD alignment, and evidence that supports audits and reporting. Document data models, lineage, and runbooks, and contribute to a shared backlog and release plan in partnership with Project Management and Business Partners. Education/Training/Experience: 2+ years in analytics engineering, BI development, or closely related data roles with measurable impact for Finance and Operations stakeholders. Strong SQL and dimensional modeling skills, with proven experience building Power BI datasets and DAX measures that scale to enterprise usage. Experience validating financial and project data, including reconciliations to the general ledger and operational sources such as construction or field systems. Familiarity working within an engineered delivery process that includes backlogs, change control, testing, and production cutovers. Communication and documentation skills that drive adoption, including producing data dictionaries, release notes, and user enablement guides. Experience with dbt or similar modeling tools, version control, and scripting for data quality tests.
