KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Passionate about crafting high-quality Android applications to improve the railway.
  • Strong Kotlin skills, with a solid understanding of the Android SDK, architecture components and modern libraries.
  • Solid experience with REST APIs and JSON.
  • Proven ability to build clean architecture with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD).
  • A logical approach to identifying and solving problems as well as a strong ability to collaborate and communicate with others.
Responsibilities

THE JOB ROLE

A talented and self-motivated Android Developer, ideally with 3-4+ years’ experience is required by an ambitious, high-growth SME, specialising in delivering Digital Solutions for Rail. This is a great opportunity for a developer who is passionate about Java/Kotlin to join this passionate team of technologists and make a real difference. You’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and gain valuable testing experience across a range of innovation and digital transformation initiatives that are transforming the safety and efficiency of our Railways.
Candidates MUST be UK based as, whilst the role is largely remote, there is a requirement to get together nominally 1 day/week (Wednesday) in our Lichfield, Staffs office to collaborate on projects and support client visits as required.

THE ROLE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Keep up to date with Android and Google technologies to drive the product forward.
  • Develop, test and implement effective mobile applications, providing future maintenance and support.
  • Develop an understanding of business processes and working towards the organisations goals.
  • Work closely with the mobile development team.
  • Deliver assigned tasks to agreed timescales.
  • Work with REST APIs.
  • Follow software development best practices.
