Android Developer for Embedded Device WiFi Apps (Contract, Solo)
Summary: Looking for an Android developer to create several apps (using both ViewBinding and Jetpack Compose) that communicate with an embedded device via WiFi protocols. You’ll handle UI (with guidance), networking, architectural design independently, and coordinate with other contractors working on the embedded and firmware side.
Primarily remote work. However at some point there will be a need to work on-site for testing either at our location or a clients. Being within driving distance to the Washington DC/Baltimore area will be a plus.

Requirements

• Proven Android development experience (ViewBinding & Jetpack Compose)
• Able to implement WiFi communication (TCP/IP sockets, HTTP/REST, or similar)
• Able to design user interfaces and flows without external mockups
• Comfortable working solo on the Android side, but able to coordinate with embedded/firmware engineers as needed
• Experience taking projects from start to finish independently

Nice to Have

• Experience with embedded systems or IoT
