    Role Summary
    Join our Infotainment team as an Android Platform Engineer. The Infotainment team at Rivian & Volkswagen Group Technologies is dedicated to building an ecosystem that delivers a beautiful, intuitive, and seamless in-vehicle experience to our customers. In this role you will have the opportunity of contributing to the core Android OS for our next-gen vehicles, focusing on foundational components, OS customization, and system security. Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and customize core Android OS components, including frameworks and services within AOSP.
  • Implement and optimize Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) for vehicle hardware interaction.
  • Optimize Android system performance, boot time, memory, and stability.
  • Integrate features, debug complex system-level issues, and ensure robust inter-ECU communication.
  • Work closely with the Product Security team to enhance system security by developing and maintaining SELinux policies, Android Verified Boot (AVB), secure boot, and developing secure apps in TEE.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, infrastructure, and application teams, to maintain and enhance the vehicle software stack.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle and uphold code quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated 3+ years of experience in Android platform development.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Java (or Kotlin) programming.
  • Strong understanding of AOSP, Android frameworks, services, and HALs.
  • Solid knowledge of Android security.
  • Expertise in debugging embedded Android devices.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Strong problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automotive industry and/or embedded Linux experience.
  • Familiarity with Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive, TrustZone (TEE), IPC mechanisms, kernel-level development, or automotive communication protocols.
  • Experience with performance profiling.

Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: 108,200 CAD - 135,300 CAD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
