The Preclinical Experimental Animal Center (PETZ) in Erlangen is the central animal facility of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital Erlangen. As a research-oriented service unit, we operate at the highest levels of animal welfare, hygiene, and standardization, and as a partner to our users, we enable basic and clinically relevant research for the development of therapies for the benefit of our patients.

The tasks:

• Your responsibilities will include supporting and assisting our animal care team in all tasks that arise in a modern laboratory animal facility.
• Your main responsibilities will include the species-appropriate husbandry and care of various laboratory animal species (mouse, rat, rabbit, pig and sheep) and the breeding of genetically modified rodents under SPF conditions.
• Your tasks also include the proper transport of animals and cage cleaning.

The know-how for this:

We expect completed vocational training in one of the following professional fields:

• Veterinary Assistant (m/f/d)
• Animal caretaker (m/f/d)
• Careers in medical-technical fields
• Food processing professions
• Positions requiring proven long-term professional experience in professions with special hygiene requirements

• Willingness to work weekends and holidays
