Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Care for, feed, monitor, medicate and perform minor treatment on animals.
  • Report observed health or behavior issues to Adoptions Manager/Assistant Manager.
  • Maintain adoption center by cleaning animal cages, kennels, other animal areas, and floors.
  • Float between City of Keller and Humane Society of North Texas
  • Assist prospective clients in the selection of animals for adoption and in the preparation of adoption forms.
  • Provide administrative and customer service support for Keller Animal Control: monitor the front desk, answer inquiries by phone or in person, relay calls and requests for service to officers in the field, perform data entry, and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain database for the Humane Society of North Texas by entering accurate information for adopters and adoptable animals.
  • Process animal transfers, animal redemptions, and animal intakes services and records. Receive and process fees for various animal related services.
  • Provide information to the public about Humane Society of North Texas programs and promote good animal care and responsible pet ownership.
  • Advise new owners of pet examinations, adoption benefits, policies and procedures.
  • Provides humane education to customers.
  • Collect and maintain accurate record of payments for adoptions, donations, and merchandise for both Keller Animal Control and the Humane Society of North Texas.
  • Keep current inventory of necessary program supplies and report shortages to Adoptions Supervisor/Assistant Manager.
  • Maintain assigned equipment, supplies and vehicles in safe condition and report any problems or needed repairs to the Adoptions Supervisor/Assistant Manager.
  • Represent the Humane Society of North Texas by providing excellent customer service and focus.
  • Additional tasks assigned by Adoptions Supervisor/Assistant Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION

  • Thorough knowledge of the Humane Society of North Texas policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Humane Society of North Texas policies and protocols, such as, but not limited to, admitting, cleaning and medical protocols.
  • Working knowledge of breeds, diseases, medical conditions, and animal handling and behavior.
  • Ability to handle animals safely and with patience and gentleness.
  • Ability to represent the Humane Society of North Texas and Keller Animal Control in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within the Humane Society of North Texas and Keller Animal Control, with volunteers, the public, and be a team player.
  • Must be patient, courteous and work well under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge and ability to accurately work with detailed information in paper and computerized format.
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong time management skills.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures.
