ANIMAL WELFARE SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY- Aside from the general care of animals, we are looking for someone that is well organized and good at prioritizing tasks. We are looking for someone with good communication and problem-solving skills. It is important to be able to work and communicate in a team environment because you will not only be working with your immediate department, but also with the veterinary team, and fosters/adopters/volunteers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Physically demanding work, walking, and standing all day.
• Exposure to high noise levels in the animal kennel environment.
• Exposure to behaviorally challenged animals and zoonotic diseases.
• Exposure to all weather conditions.
• Lifting of up to 50 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current or previous kennel experience or pet care in a rescue, kennel, or veterinary environment
• Excellent communications, organizational skills.
• Shows maturity, good judgment and performs duties in a professional manner.
• Proficiency with use of computers (word/excel, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
