Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Animal Ethics Coordinator to join the Ethics, Integrity and Governance team in the Office for Research. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of animal ethics in our organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines while promoting the highest standards of animal welfare. You will also be required to:

  • Coordinate and manage the Animal Ethics Committee, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and maintaining accurate records
  • Review and process animal ethics applications, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to researchers on animal ethics protocols and best practices
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor ongoing research projects to ensure adherence to approved protocols
  • Develop and implement training programs on animal ethics and welfare for staff and students
  • Analyse data and prepare reports on animal use and welfare for internal and external stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with current legislation, guidelines, and best practices in animal ethics and welfare
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent application of animal ethics policies across the organisation
  • Act as a liaison between researchers, veterinary staff, and regulatory bodies
