Description
The Animal Facility Attendant's responsibilities include animal husbandry duties, processing of facility equipment as well as a limited amount of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. The husbandry component will involve participating in the daily health monitoring of animals and performing animal husbandry and care activities following established standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements (CCAC/OMAFRA). Animal husbandry and care activities include, but are not limited to, changing of cages and cleaning of large animal quarters. Processing of animal facility equipment will involve working in the wash area of the facility and involves the operation of a rack washer, autoclave and other equipment related to the operation of the facility. Troubleshooting and limited maintenance of the equipment in the facility and wash area is also required. 1. ARLAT Certification and/or Bachelor of Science Degree preferred 2. Minimum one year previous experience working with laboratory animals 3. Previous experience working with wash area equipment, washer, autoclaves 4. Demonstrated ability to work independently 5. Demonstrated excellent communication and problem-solving skills 6. Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible research environment
