We are delighted to offer a vacancy for the role ‘Animal Welfare Technician’ This is an exciting opportunity to join our small friendly team and work with neurodivergent and vulnerable young people and adults in a multisensory, therapeutic setting.
The post holder will be responsible for the health, welfare and management of our range of small and large animals.
We are looking for someone who has vast experience working with a variety of animals, who has animal welfare as their priority and is able to share their knowledge with learners during industry experience sessions. The successful candidate will liaise with teaching staff during weekly meetings to ensure that high standards in every regard are met and planning of animal welfare and husbandry tasks can be completed. We would welcome applications from people who can conduct themselves in a professional, inspiring, confident and friendly manner.
Being a good communicator, compassionate and driven to help people to meet their personal goals is imperative. Being passionate about animal care and husbandry is also essential.

Responsibilities

· Being responsible for the welfare and husbandry of large and small animals
· Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
· Working outside in all weather conditions
· Liaising with staff during weekly meetings to plan welfare tasks and managing a practical booking system
· Ensuring that all of our animals are cared for to a high standard
· Setting up resources in preparation for lessons
· Facilitating industry experience sessions for learners of animal care courses
· To support small groups or individuals during practical sessions
· Create a rapport and support individuals to feel safe
· To support individuals to meet their targets
· To attend meetings and report on student progress
· To demonstrate animal care practical skills to support student progress
· Any other reasonable duties as required by the directors
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.21-£15.00 per hour
