The Annual Gifts and Events Officer plays a key role in the success of the organization’s fundraising and engagement efforts by working closely with the Director of Development and Development team. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact fundraising and stewardship events, as well as managing annual giving campaigns. This position is central to cultivating strong donor relationships, enriching the donor experience, and ultimately driving increased donor acquisition, retention, and philanthropic support.
Event Planning and Execution
- Plan and manage logistics for fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events, including volunteer breakfasts, galas, Board Socials, Innovation Circle Dinner, Extraordinary Give, Holiday Gift Wrap Booth, Lunch and Learn Tours, and other events as needed.
- Oversee event planning committees and recruit volunteers.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors on all event details, including venue, catering, A/V, marketing and staffing.
- Create event sponsorship packages, solicit and secure sponsorships.
- Serve as marketing liaison and content creator for collateral (internal/external), creating annual sponsorship benefit packages while ensuring brand consistency.
- Drive event promotion strategies across various channels, including invitations, email
- Develop event budgets and ensure events are executed within financial parameters.
- Analyze event metrics and produce post-event reports to guide future planning and enhance success
Annual Giving Program
- Develop and implement annual giving strategies to increase donor participation and year-over-year giving, including employee giving, recurring gift program initiatives, direct mail, and online campaigns to support UDS programs.
- Coordinate and manage direct mail appeals as well as new donor welcome letters, LYBUNT (Last Year but Unfortunately Not This Year), EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) and Nap (Neighborhood Assistance Program) mailings.
- Analyze donor data to produce reports, identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement that guide fundraising strategies in coordination of the Director of Development.
- Coordinate and secure donor and UDS participant stories to support appeals and events.
- Segment donor communications and solicitations for maximum engagement and response rates.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop fundraising materials, social media posts, eblasts and website updates.
Donor Stewardship and Engagement:
- Support donor recognition programs and stewardship initiatives.
- Grow and steward a portfolio of annual donors (generally $5,000 and under), encouraging continued and increased giving.
- Serve as a point of contact for annual donors and provide excellent customer service.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or another related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, event planning, and/or donor relations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and donor database systems (e.g., Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
- Experience with fundraising platforms, event registration systems, and email marketing tools preferred.
