Description

The Southern Environmental Law Center is seeking an Annual Giving Coordinator. The Annual Giving Coordinator will have the ability to work in one of the following office locations: Charlottesville, VA, Chapel Hill, NC, Atlanta, GA or Charleston, SC. This individual will join our development team and report to our Director of Annual Giving. The Annual Giving Coordinator will assist with the implementation of donor engagement strategies by supporting donor retention and upgrades through thoughtful communication and recognition. The Annual Giving Coordinator will support the execution and planning of direct mail campaigns that support the organization’s annual giving goals. This role ensures that annual giving donor communications are compelling, data-informed, and aligned with the organization’s broader fundraising strategies. The ideal candidate will not only have experience in donor relations, stewardship, and/or direct mail campaign management; but demonstrated experience managing direct mail programs and administering the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform with Tableau analytics.
SELC has a hybrid work model that offers employees the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week. This is a full-time non-exempt position, and employees must reside in our region. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising or a related field.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with CRM software.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, particularly the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance short-term deadlines and rapid response moments with larger, longer-term projects.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency across communications, data management, and campaign execution.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with direct mail programs and managing external vendors.
  • Experience in Salesforce CRM, Tableau, and/or Account Engagement (Salesforce Email Marketing Platform).

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and execution of direct mail programs including list segmentation, copywriting, production, and mailing logistics.
  • Track appeal results and analyze campaign performance, including revenue, cost, and ROI metrics.
  • Collaborate with digital fundraising and communications teams to ensure integrated messaging across channels.
  • Manage donor welcome series, renewal acknowledgments, and recurring gift stewardship calendars.
  • Assist in deploying the stewardship tactics for branded donor recognition programs, especially for mid-level donors.
  • Maintain stewardship matrices and intake forms to track donor engagement and reporting needs.
  • Support event-based stewardship and donor impact reporting initiatives.
  • Assist in the coordination with development team members as needed to ensure consistent and meaningful donor touchpoints.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Annual Giving that support the annual giving direct mail and stewardship programs.
