Maine School Administrative Unit #60 is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic administrator for tMary Hurd Academy (MHA). MHA is an integral part of the Noble school district where we strive to meet the varying needs of all kindergarten through twelfth grade students. As part of the district programming, MHA serves middle and high school-aged students who have had challenges in the more traditional middle school or high school setting. Enrollment fluctuates between 15-25 students who display a range of behavioral and/or social emotional needs.
The small setting affords individualized programming, extended learning opportunities, and other off campus activities with the goal of equipping students with the skills to find success in careers and their community. The staff of 10 are dedicated and responsive to student needs and encourage them to reach their individualized goals through programming and academic instruction. Duties and Responsibilities: Continue to build and maintain a strong supportive culture among staff and students.Support the special education program for a school of approximately 20 students.Implement, supervise, and facilitate intervention programs and curricula.Attend and facilitate IEPs meetings.Support and collaborate with Mental Health services of partner organizationsEnsure the implementation of accommodations per IEPs.Provide school leadership and vision. Manage day to day performance of special education teachers, educational technicians, and social workers.Conduct informal and formal performance evaluations for special education teachers and other school staff members as directed by the special education director.Work under the direction of the special education director to lead the school and create a culture of student achievement.Covering classroom needs when staff are absent.Completing special education academic evaluations.Mentor staff through hands-on experiences and shared teaching responsibilities.Other duties as assigned by the director of special educationQualifications: Commitment to the MSAD #60 mission and belief that all students can learn.Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs designed for students with learning, physical, and behavioral disabilities.Knowledge of medical and psychosocial issues related to individuals with learning, developmental, and/or emotional disabilities.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.Demonstrated professionalism and responsibility, and a strong work ethic.Positive, high-energy attitude, and a drive for personal excellence.Flexible attitude, ability to work with urgency.Prior teaching and school leadership experience to include Restorative Justice, PBL, ELOs.Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills.Current Administrative Certification
