WE HELP THE WORLD RUN BETTER

At SAP, we enable you to bring out your best. Our company culture is focused on collaboration and a shared passion to help the world run better. How? We focus every day on building the foundation for tomorrow and creating a workplace that embraces differences, values flexibility, and is aligned to our purpose-driven and future-focused work. We offer a highly collaborative, caring team environment with a strong focus on learning and development, recognition for your individual contributions, and a variety of benefit options for you to choose from.
SAP is seeking an experienced lawyer with 5+ years post qualification legal experience to work as part of the SAP Asia Pacific Japan (“APJ”) legal team, with a focus on the SAP Australia and New Zealand market unit (the “Market Unit” or “MU”). You will work closely with and as part of the regional APJ legal team and your primary responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating technology cloud, license, service and related agreements to help achieve SAP’s business growth strategies and objectives. All legal work must be carried out within SAP’s risk tolerances, while maintaining SAP policies, and complying with applicable laws. In addition, the position will work with other internal lines of business/practice areas such as finance, marketing, procurement, and bid management. You will provide legal advice and counseling on a wide variety of matters, including intellectual property, licensing, data privacy, and license compliance matters.
The role involves working with sales and services professionals, pricing and revenue recognition teams, and others, in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work with a team across a wide organization is critical. Experience in the Cloud (software as a service) and with Australian government contracting is beneficial.

  • You think critically, are able to identify issues and are confident to discuss these with team members and legal management to enable quick resolution.
  • You are creative and demonstrate the ability to “think outside of the box”, meaning that you know when to follow established guidelines, but you are also able suggest and seek approval for alternative approaches that further the objectives and goals of the Company within our risk and compliance framework.
  • You build and maintain collaborative relationships with peers, internal clients, and external customers and clearly convey processes, policies, and advice in a manner that others can easily grasp, both in terms of the rationale used and the consequences of proposed solutions.
