Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely. About the role The AOD Practitioner position is part of the Substance Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Program. You will provide high quality counselling, assessment, case management and coordinated care to individuals, family members and significant others residing in the Inner North and Northwest catchments. Drawing on evidence-based interventions and a holistic, client centred approach, you will support participants to improve their wellbeing and achieve their treatment goals. Reporting to the AOD Program Manager, this is a permanent full time position, based in Coburg North, Victoria. Salary and conditions are in accordance under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 5. How you will make an impact Respond to referrals promptly and conduct comprehensive assessments, including liaison with allied health and medical professionals as needed Provide counselling and evidence based AOD interventions tailored to client needs, including cognitive and behavioural strategies, motivational approaches and family inclusive practice Develop, implement and regularly review individual treatment plans in collaboration with clients to support their recovery goals Facilitate assertive referrals, aftercare planning, access to community supports and connection to wider service networks to strengthen long term recovery pathways Maintain accurate and timely client records, participate in case reviews and staff meetings, and contribute to service improvement initiatives What you will bring A tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline (minimum Diploma of Community Services) Relevant experience within social services, ideally within the AOD sector AOD Skill Set (or willingness to obtain within the first 12 months) Demonstrated experience delivering counselling, case management and AOD specific interventions Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team Understanding of confidentiality, trauma informed practice, culturally safe practice and recovery-oriented service delivery Current Victorian Driver Licence and Employee Working with Children Check What we offer The Salvos offer eligible employees a balanced and meaningful range of benefits, including: Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives incl Fitness Passport Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander supports such as: Burra Burra Network (pastoral care network), Cultural Events, Sorry Business and Ceremonial Leave (up to 10 days) Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable / social impacts How to apply If you're passionate about supporting people on their recovery journey and committed to trauma informed, evidence-based practice, we invite you to apply.
