Additionally, the AP Teacher will prepare students for the college AP Exam presented by the College Board, and utilize College Board standards and resources. Teachers are a critical component of the success of Maranatha High School and each individual student, and are expected to comply with the job duties and expectations set forth below or as assigned by School Administration from time to time. STATEMENT OF FAITH As a Christian individual, employed with a Christian institution, Employee acknowledges and affirms that Employee believes, embraces and at all times does and will follow the School’s Statement of Faith, as expressed in Exhibit A attached and incorporated hereto. Employee understands that continued employment with the school is contingent upon this commitment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Be fully committed to Maranatha’s mission of providing a quality university preparatory education in an intentional Christ-honoring community of faith, belief and practice. Able to affirm through exhibiting personal and professional support of the School’s mission, standards of conduct and Statement of Faith. Create lesson plans and course syllabus. Assess student achievement and mastery of content. Provide for instruction of applicable course content. Facilitate a positive and productive learning environment. Provide substantial opportunities for student achievement. Update and maintain curriculum guides for all courses assigned. Responsible for student grading/evaluation within timeline and deadlines set by Administration. Communicate effectively and regularly with parents or guardians about student progress. Respond to email in a timely manner and be available for regular conference periods to assist parents and students as needed. Attend Faculty/Staff Orientation days, all Professional Development days and school training sessions, scheduled events/meetings involving employee’s department, all Admissions events, including, but not limited to: Open Houses, annual “Foreword 20xx” event, Back-To-School Nights, Graduation and Baccalaureate, and other staff or school functions as assigned. Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time to time, including, but not limited to, supervision of traffic flow/parking areas, student breaks/lunches, extra-curricular functions, Chapel/assemblies and general enforcement of campus standards, as assigned by Principal or designee. Adhere to MHS policies, procedures, and guidelines; as well as applicable industry and employment regulations. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other Responsibilities: Respect confidentiality of all personal and organizational information. Maintain a positive, collaborative, cooperative, helpful attitude and a team spirit. Collaborate, interact and work well with others, including students, parents and guardians, staff, faculty, administration, alumni, vendors and any other personnel involved with the School or education process. Comply with any duty, obligation, requirement or directive given to Employee by Administration. Participate on committees and panels as directed by Administration. Assist in other duties as needed and directed by the Administration. Attendance is required at all meetings announced by the Senior Administrator over your department. Employees must attend church services in accordance with the MHS Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Statement, and are encouraged to be active in their local churches in addition to regular church attendance. INTERACTION: Interact internally with faculty, staff, and students. Interact externally with parents, schools, and the community. CERTIFICATIONS: Academic Administrators and Teachers must have a current ACSI Administrator or Teacher Certificate or agree to a specific timetable, approved by MHS Administration, for obtaining one. QualificationsJOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven and successful track record in improving student achievement, preferably in faith-based institutions. Perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Operating standard classroom equipment; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and use pertinent software applications (e.g., myMHS, eTextbooks, iTunes, and, education Apps: Turnitin, Albert.io, G Suite). Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Ability to adapt to changing work priorities, and multi-task, working with frequent interruptions, while meeting deadlines and schedules. Working as part of a team in a manner designed to foster collaboration and cooperation. Working with detailed personal or administrative information/data, while maintaining confidentiality. Reasonable care, maintenance and operation of classroom and workroom technology and equipment, to include copy machine, computers, DVD player, Television equipment, iPad, etc. Education Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or a related field is required. Master’s degree and or teaching Credential are preferred, but not required. Work Experience A minimum of 5-7 years of high school teaching experience. Experience teaching AP courses. Experience working in a non-profit school setting is a plus. Language Skills Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly, professionally and effectively respond to questions from staff, students and families. Mental Demands Ability to perform well under pressure, while treating others with respect and consideration. Ability to maintain a level of professionalism and calm when others are behaving inappropriately. Accept responsibility for own actions; follow through on commitments. Work Environment The work environment is indoors in a comfortable temperature-controlled classroom environment and is typically free from dust and hazardous materials.
