AP104 WEB DEVELOPER II

NASA Astrophysics Science Division
Location: Greenbelt, MD (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)
The Astrophysics Science Division (ASD) at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center is seeking a Web Developer to support its mission websites and outreach initiatives. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing online resources that communicate scientific discoveries from key NASA missions, including Fermi, NICER, NuSTAR, Swift, and XMM-Newton. This position also involves the design and production of supporting outreach materials for both the scientific community and the public.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 20+ years experience in editing raw HTML and CSS.
• 20+ years experience with legacy database technologies and their integration with web applications.
• Experience with Adobe Dreamweaver and desktop publishing tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Framemaker).
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (LPR) required, with US residency for the past 3 consecutive years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience supporting scientific proposal review panels
• Understanding of NASA mission websites, particularly Swift and Fermi.
• Familiarity with the NASA Horizon Design System.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple web properties in research-driven environment.

• Develop, maintain, and update division and mission websites to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and user engagement.
• Ensure compliance with NASA standards, including the Horizon Design System, Section 508 accessibility requirements, and IT security best practices.
• Support web content management for multiple missions, collaborating with scientists, engineers & comms.
• Create brochures, booklets, and large-format displays to support scientific outreach and public engagement.
• Provide on-call support for critical IT security and website reliability needs.
