Description

We are seeking an API 653 Certified Inspector experienced in reviewing storage tank documentation for compliance with API standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements. This is a non-field role focused entirely on document-based verification of inspection reports, design files, repair records, and certification documents related to aboveground storage tanks in the oil and gas industry.

  • Review inspection reports (internal, external, in-service) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Evaluate historical data, repair logs, and maintenance records for compliance with API 653.
  • Review tank design drawings, calibration charts, fabrication documents, and material certificates.
  • Verify NDT reports (UT, RT, PT, MT) and interpret results in alignment with tank integrity requirements.
  • Check compliance of repair procedures and alteration records with API 653 / API 650 / ASME standards.
  • Maintain document control and version tracking for all submitted inspection documents.
  • Support audit readiness and provide documentation for client or regulatory audits.
  • Assist in RBI planning through documentation review and historical data analysis.
  • Coordinate with site inspectors, engineers, and third-party NDT personnel for clarification as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid API 653 Certification (mandatory)
  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in inspection or integrity roles involving API 653 tanks.
  • Proven experience in document review, technical audits, or back-office inspection functions.
  • Familiarity with inspection report formats, drawing standards, and industry documentation requirements.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent attention to detail in reviewing complex technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of API 653, API 650, and ASME codes relevant to tank design and repair.
  • Ability to work with digital inspection platforms, document management systems, and MS Office tools.
  • Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.
