JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Software Apigee Engineer you will design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software to meet business and customer needs. Depending on the need, you could work on development initiatives that include: Developing features and capabilities for end users, either external customers or internal employees. Developing business platforms such as data engineering, developer tooling, or machine learning.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop standardized workflows to streamline API management and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Build and enhance self-service capabilities for product teams to manage APIs independently.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Apigee X platform by identifying optimization opportunities and implementing best practices.
  • Drive new features for the platform and maintain a high standard for the enterprise.
  • Design, Monitor, and Analyze API performance metrics to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to support team knowledge sharing.
  • Write high-quality code that satisfies customer needs and strives for simplicity, clarity, and testability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g. business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, and end users) to understand functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Apigee X platform, APIs, and integrations to maintain high availability and performance.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment and work closely with colleagues to achieve business objectives.
  • Investigate and propose solutions to development and design problems.
  • Participate in scope of work estimation and forecasting.
  • Adhere to architecture, design, implementation, and security standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews or use collaborative programming techniques to promote high quality business outcomes.
  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • After hours application support in the resolution of critical application issues may be needed

Education & Experience:
-
- Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or related field Preferred
- 4+ years of experience in Apigee X development or other software engineering roles Preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:

  • Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks. Required
  • Proficiency in one or more coding languages. (Javascript/Typescript, C#, Python, GoLang) Required
  • Experience with automation of CI/CD pipelines Required
  • Experience with Apigee X or similar API management platforms (e.g., AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management) Required
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and API security best practices Required
  • Experience in building and automating workflows using tools like Apigee Management APIs, Node.js, or Python Required
  • Understanding of agile methodology and software development lifecycles. Required
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus Preferred
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions) for API deployment automation Required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing. Required
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Required
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment Required
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and work both independently and on a team. Required
