Description
We’re looking for an experienced Apiary Supervisor to support our Apiary Branch Manager and lead a high-performing beekeeping team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee hive performance, drive operational excellence, and support the development of beekeepers—ensuring strong honey yields and optimal hive health across your region. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Support day-to-day apiary operations alongside the Branch Manager Manage allocated hives to deliver seasonal production targets Ensure hives are maintained in peak condition for maximum productivity Beekeeping & Hive Management Oversee hive health, including early detection and management of disease Drive best practice beekeeping techniques to maximize Mānuka honey yield Work across all aspects of apiary operations, including extraction when needed People Leadership Lead, coach, and develop a team of beekeepers and apprentices Allocate and monitor daily/weekly tasks to ensure quality and efficiency Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training Stakeholder & Land Management Maintain strong relationships with landowners and internal teams Ensure ongoing access to land for hive placement and seasonal crops Planning & Administration Assist in seasonal planning and execution Maintain accurate records and reporting in company systems Monitor performance against targets and drive continuous improvement About You You’re a passionate beekeeper and natural leader who thrives in a hands-on environment. Your experience and skills will include: Minimum 5+ years’ commercial beekeeping experience Strong knowledge of bee husbandry, hive management, and honey production Ability to identify and manage bee diseases (AFB certification preferred) Proven experience leading and developing teams Confidence operating vehicles in off-road NZ conditions Please note that this role is based in Masterton only.
