Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Apigee Platform Architect to lead the design, implementation, and management of our API platform using Google Apigee. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of API architecture, integration patterns, security standards, and microservices, and will play a key role in defining our API strategy, guiding development teams, and ensuring performance and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable API solutions using Google Apigee Edge / Apigee X.
Lead the development of API architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, DevOps, security, business stakeholders) to define API requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
Develop API proxies, shared flows, and reusable policies to support enterprise integration patterns.
Manage Apigee platform configurations, environments, and deployments (CI/CD integration).
Ensure compliance with API security protocols, including OAuth2, JWT, API keys, and threat protection.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and junior architects.
Monitor API analytics, performance metrics, and proactively optimize the platform.
Participate in solution reviews, code reviews, and contribute to technical documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
7+ years of experience in software architecture or API management roles.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Apigee (Edge, Apigee X).
Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices, and integration patterns.
Expertise in API security: OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting, threat protection.
Experience with Kubernetes, GCP, AWS, or Azure is a strong plus.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform).
Proficient in scripting and programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
