Are you interested in learning what makes the Apple Watch tick? Apple is seeking an enthusiastic system power validation engineer for the Watch System EE team! You will work to analyze and validate power consumption of critical hardware features on the Apple Watch. The results will inform and guide key decisions in the electrical design of the product loved and used worldwide! The candidate must have experience working with many different cross-functional teams, be a team player, and have experience with working on system power validation and analysis for shipping hardware. DESCRIPTION The role involves defining test scripts and procedures for characterizing peak and average system and component power and checking for regressions between hardware engineering build revisions. You will be working closely with EE design and subsystem teams to align on key metrics and quantify the impact of our design decisions. You will be involved in optimizing power consumption and battery life all while learning about all of the different hardware features that make up the Watch (sensors, RF, analog, digital, etc.). Your results will directly impact the EE design of our products! Analyzing collected data and presenting it to wide forums will be a key aspect of the role along with keeping all teams informed on the status and outcomes of testing in a timely manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BS in EE or CE 2-5 years prior experience shipping hardware on a system or module team with specific focus on system power consumption validation Strong expertise in Python-based SW/script development for test automation frameworks Strong familiarity with test and measurement procedures with lab bench equipment for power analysis (e.g., DMMs, power analyzers, current probes) Excellent documentation and communication skills, ability to work independently, and demonstrated ability to innovate are required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS MS or Ph.D in EE or CE Deep knowledge of EE fundamentals (analog design, power regulator design and validation) Experience with modeling/simulation or MATLAB Some experience with data analysis/visualization tools (Tableau, JMP, etc.)
