Description Position Summary Under the direction of the C&D Operations Manager, this position is responsible for receiving, inspecting, sorting, storing, handling, preparing, and de-manufacturing of discarded appliances while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and applicable DNR laws, regulations, and safety requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Receives, inspects, sorts, stores, handles, prepares and de-manufactures discarded appliances and electronics. Follows established procedures for the safe handling, identification, and segregation of materials throughout the receiving process. Alerts immediate supervisor of any issues with following established procedures. Provides prompt and courteous service to both internal and external customers and educates customers and coworkers on proper waste handling procedures. Ensures all hazardous materials and recyclables are placed in specified areas and relocates filled containers to the approved storage areas. Ensure that no method of handling discarded appliances is used that would damage refrigerant lines, compressors, capacitors, or mercury-containing components or that would cause a release of refrigerant, PCBs, or mercury into the environment. Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws relating to the management and disposition of all hazardous waste, hazardous materials, and refrigerants. Monitors inventory and requests reorder of supplies before they become exhausted. Participates in all safety training, follows established safety procedures, makes recommendations for safety improvements, and corrects unsafe acts or conditions when appropriate. Continue to research and gain knowledge of the latest technological developments and provide subject matter expertise in these areas. Test appliance and electronic parts for proper functionality and list them on the open market. Assist with ground maintenance including but not limited to mowing, weed control, and snow removal. Assists customers with the sales of MWA Grow Gold Compost (handling cash, balancing daily cash drawer). Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) 1-3 years’ experience working on appliances and diagnosing appliance problems. Basic Computer Skills. Valid driver’s license Preferred Education & Experience Associates degree or High School Diploma/GED with 2 years related experience. 2 years’ experience handling and processing hazardous waste. Preferred Current Class A B Commercial Driver License (CDL) Knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements for the handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste. Responsibilities
