Job Summary: Serves as Application Administrator for a variety of Client Computing system software applications running on a variety of hardware environments. These applications support the overall user environment in areas such as but not limited to Identity Management Service Desk applications Asset Management etc. Serves as a liaison between the Helpdesk system administrators database administrators and functional Client Computing users.

APPLICATIONS ADMINISTRATOR IS A KEY TECHNOLOGY CONTRIBUTOR WITH A CORE FOCUS OF APPLYING AND SUPPORTING TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER IN-STORE BUSINESS CAPABILITIES.

  • Installs and configures application software and sets/manages application parameters.
  • Troubleshoots technical application problems and coordinates resolution of problems with other support groups.
  • Point of contact between application vendors, functional users, Database Administrators, Systems Administrators, and Helpdesk for all application functionality and configuration.
  • Ensure/implement the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Systems, Applications and/or Services (Hardware & Software).

Responsibilities

Incumbents of this position must be U.S. Citizens.

Installs and configures Client Computing support applications software.

  • Sets/Manages application parameters for Client Computing Support systems/software.
  • Administer incident, problem and change management capabilities that maximize analyst productivity and enhance responsiveness.
  • The ability to plan, test, and implement a production database environment.
  • Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to ‘front end’ users.
  • Writing application documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary.
  • Obtains regular monitoring and processing reports to check for errors, assess/analyze errors, and distinguishes between database, application, and customized application problems.
  • Troubleshoots technical Client Computing application problems and coordinates resolution with other support groups.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and install vendor provided software patches, security updates, cyclical releases, and major upgrades.
  • Maintains security compliancy in accordance with DoD, PCI,PII, and other compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to assess if existing architecture can support business and functional requirements.
  • Create, design, develop, analyze, test and modify administrative scripts and batch files to automate processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and effective problem solving.
  • Excellent written / oral communications and interpersonal skills

SECNAV M-5239.2 DoN, Information Assurance (IA) Workforce Manual requires that all incumbents of this position possess, and maintain current, two types of certifications as follows:
IA Certification: One of the following certifications: A+, Network+, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or one of the following higher level certification: Security+, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network
Professional (SCNP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Expert (GSE), Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
NEXCOM preferred certification is Security+
Technical Certification: MCDST, MCTS Window 7 certification or any replacement certificate or exam that Microsoft may announce in the future to replace Windows 7 Configuration Exam 680.
Certification must be valid (not expired) as defined by the policy of the certification issuer.
Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain the proper certification requirement will result in termination of employment.
This position is designated IT-2 (Non-critical Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M-5510.30 and will require a favorable Access National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in administrative, technical work, which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes, required to perform technical or analytical work and coordination involving management information systems.
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor’s degree in a Business/Information Systems discipline for 3 years general experience.
