Application/Cloud Architect – European Commission (Brussels) We are looking for a senior Application/Cloud Architect to join a strategic project at the European Commission in Brussels, focused on the development of a Corporate Crisis Management Solution built on an event-driven architecture. What you'll be working on You will be part of a cross-DG team co-developing a corporate crisis management platform, integrating existing Commission building blocks with open-source and commercial components. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle — from architecture and API design to backend/frontend implementation, testing, and DevOps pipelines. What we're looking for Strong backend development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka Solid frontend skills in Angular 14+, TypeScript, and JavaScript (ES6) Hands-on experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, CQRS, and Event Sourcing Knowledge of BPMN 2.0 and Camunda for process automation Experience with Oracle (relational DB) and Elasticsearch DevOps experience: GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, JIRA, Confluence Familiarity with SSO/CAS authentication and web security (XSS, CSRF) Nice to have Experience with EC platforms: Compass Corporate, EU Login, API Gateway, eUI, Secunda+, Dynamic Forms Micro-frontend architecture (NgRx/Redux) AWS or Azure cloud architecture ARIS (EA/BPM tool) Profile requirements Minimum Bachelor's degree Languages English advanced Location & Work Model Brussels, Belgium Hybrid Full‑time
