Description:
AdaptiveVets Solutions is seeking an experienced Application Delivery/Load Balancing Team Lead to support a large network services opportunity with a Health Agency in Montgomery County, MD. This role is crucial to the Health IT Network Services mission, ensuring enterprise performance efficiencies, security, innovation, and risk reduction. We are looking for a highly skilled professional with network expertise, technical roadmap experience, and leadership capabilities to enhance our trusted partnership with Health IT Network Services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- One or more of the following certifications:
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
- F5 Certified Solution Expert (CSE)
- 7+ years of experience in load balancing solutions.
- 3+ years of experience configuring Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Proven management experience leading small technical teams.
- 2+ years of experience implementing cloud-based load balancing solutions.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise VPNs, PKI infrastructure, and DNS solutions.
- In-depth understanding of network security concepts and emerging cybersecurity capabilities.
- Familiarity with enterprise security tools and best practices.
- Experience supporting large Federal agencies, preferably HHS.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active CISSP certification (highly preferred).
- Additional certifications such as ITIL 4, CCIE, CCNP.
- Experience working with cloud or software-defined networking (SDN) environments.
- Hands-on experience with ScienceLogic SL1.
- Demonstrated success in continuous process improvement within IT infrastructure environments.
- Experience with ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Application Delivery Team Lead will be responsible for maintaining a secure, compliant, and high-performance network environment. This includes overseeing application security, web-based intranet operations, and infrastructure applications while ensuring compliance with 508, FIPS-201, HSPD-12, and other HHS policies and standards. The role also involves validating security configurations, ensuring software integrity, and delivering key customer deliverables. This position requires collaboration across Network Operations and Architecture Engineering teams to support the technical roadmap and operational goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide hybrid on-site support to the Health Agency in Maryland.
- Manage and optimize multiple F5 BIG-IP physical and virtual systems for load balancing and high availability of critical applications.
- Implement and manage BIG-IP Web Application Firewalls (WAFs).
- Lead and manage a small application delivery team, including task assignments, priorities, and deadlines.
- Provide support for network security, including filling in for other security-related activities when needed.
- Collaborate with network engineers and architects on major network upgrades and new initiatives.
- Maintain and enhance application monitoring solutions.
- Update and maintain security documentation, including Authority to Operate (ATO) packages.
