Description

Primary Function: Pursue, define, qualify and develop, and coordinate to fruition new business opportunities for Foster Corporation and to grow their assigned group of accounts. The primary “business opportunities” focus is Foster’s tactical core business of medical compounding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires technical expertise to
close new business opportunities and build a long-term relationship with customers by working in association with regional sales managers (RSM). Support RSM to grow their assigned group of accounts. The primary “business opportunities” focus is Foster’s tactical core business of medical compounding and distribution business. This involves working with thermoplastic materials and medical polymers.

Below is an overview of the key functions.

  • Pursue- Communicate and interact with customers in the co-ordination of RSM

• Define- Work with potential customers to identify, create, and define product requirements based on the project background, description, scope, desired outcome, deliverables, and budget. Understand and identify customer’s problem • Qualify- Qualify the project based on customer need, technical fit, and feasibility for Foster, along with the economics of driving the development.

  • Develop- Formulate polymer (thermoplastics and elastomers) material solutions to the customer’s problems. Develop engineering development plan and follow-through to completion with customer input.
  • Coordinate- Internal/external resources for successful completion of the opportunity/project. Follow up on customer projects and proactively communicate internally with all stakeholders.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop scoping documents, and proposals, understand cost versus value, and present options to customers for potential solutions that Foster can offer.
  • Manage projects through to successful outcomes for Foster and customer and post-project follow-up and AAR review as required.
  • Establish team direction/strategy for ADE activities.
  • Assist and supervise lab work of technicians/operators for the execution of strategic projects when needed
  • Participates in the company’s strategic planning process and new product development initiatives in conjunction with the R&D team.
  • Trade show attendance and lead follow-up.
  • Host customers at the Foster site or visit customers on-site as required.

This person will work intimately with inside Foster Corporation personnel to help achieve the above mission. This being the case, they must be able to create a team environment to get buy-in for their projects and activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of polymer materials, plastics processing (primarily single screw and twin-screw extrusion technologies) and able to apply polymer structure – property relationships to new material / product/ process development is preferred.
  • The ability to perform all duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
  • The perception is that customer satisfaction is the #1 priority with an excellent disposition in all personal interactions.
  • Advanced working knowledge of personal computers and experience in their use in business applications.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret directions, instructions, customer specifications, purchase orders, production documentation, quality system procedures, correspondence and memos, data sheets, brochures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and SDS sheets.
  • Ability to create customer correspondence, routine reports, and other correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply problem-solving techniques in situations involving numerous variables.

Education and/or Experience: BS Degree with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience or an entry level MS Degree (upto 3 years of experience) in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science or Chemical engineering is preferred minimum Other degrees with 10+ years of application development experience in plastics industry . Mathematical Skills: Advanced ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Must be able to analyze data and provide conclusions based on observed trends.

Language/Communication Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operational instructions, procedure manuals, and SDS sheets.
  • Ability to write routine reports.

Computer Skills: Must be proficient using system programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Other Required Ability:

  • Strong customer orientation and high problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a global cross-functional team environment.
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of creativity, technical curiosity, and strong team spirit
  • Must be able to work at the day-to-day tactical level as well as on the strategic level.
  • Knowledge of both Mechanical and Analytical Testing of Polymers, DOE, and project management tools.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, and good communication skills (both written and verbal) to allow for a good dialogue with relevant partners.
