THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Lead Application Engineer LOCATION: 485 W. 3rd St. Dover, OH SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm Role Provide our customers with practical dependable solutions, meeting or exceeding the customers’ expectations with their buying experience. Responsible for basic technical assistance with product recommendations and running parameters, specials quotations, product failure analysis, and complete ownership of any special product quoted throughout its life cycle. Key Accountabilities Safety/Operations: Work closely with all groups required in operations to effectively design and produce special product designs. The application engineer is responsible for tracking ordered specials and communicating with the customer and territory manager if there are any issues with delivering the tools on the promised date. Cost Reduction: Control costs by recommending standard product or standardized specials whenever possible and ensure processes are in place to produce the tools. Build upon success with consistent recommendations. If successful trends are found with geometries or markets then work with the lead application engineer, as well as the other members of the department to inform product management of a potential product portfolio addition. Quality: Identify root cause of any valid customer complaint. Work with manufacturing engineers to mitigate the issue Work with Quality Assurance to proactively identify other products that could be affected by the same issue. Work with product management to determine the necessary steps to mitigate any risk in the marketplace. Personnel: Work closely with the Lead Application Engineer to identify areas for improved quality and consistency within the department. The Application Engineer is a customer facing representative and is the voice to the customer and sales force. They are responsible for keeping in continual contact to ensure transparency. Key Challenges Maintain a positive relationship with internal and external associates. Continue to grow application knowledge through personal and shared information from the department and the market. Proactively engage with operations to track special products and find solutions to resolve any issues encountered. A flexible schedule is required with off hours accessibility from time to time on an as needed basis. Some travel is required. Qualifications Required Knowledge and Experience Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or significant related work experience. Experience in structured problem solving/analysis. Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to all levels of the organization as well as with end users, distributors, and vendors.
