Description

WHO WE ARE:

Apollo is a specialised independent (re)insurer, established in 2009, to deliver top-tier products and services to clients, brokers, and capital partners at Lloyd’s. The name “Apollo” was inspired by the achievements of one of its founding investors, Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon in 1969. Together with Jim Hays, Neil identified an opportunity to create a unique service provider within Lloyd’s.
Since its inception, Apollo has significantly broadened its portfolio of insurance solutions. This includes Apollo 1969’s traditional and specialty lines, ibott 1971’s innovative sharing economy products, and managing agency services at Lloyd’s through our Platform Partner Syndicates. Today, Apollo continues to grow with team of over 280 professionals dedicated to fulfilling the company’s mission of enabling a resilient and sustainable world.

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE:

Apollo is evolving. As part of our Data Solutions team, this role plays a key part in delivering the next generation of automation and application services across our business. You will bring your experience as a Software Developer to enhance, rebuild, and create applications that drive real operational value. Working closely with stakeholders from underwriting to HR, you will help shape the tools and platforms that power Apollo’s transformation.
Whether developing brand new applications or optimising existing ones, you will contribute to end-to-end design, development, and delivery in a collaborative, hands-on environment. This is a great opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team, where continuous learning, curiosity, and experimentation are not just encouraged, but expected.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand business needs and design practical, scalable solutions
  • Develop secure, cloud-based applications and components using C#, .NET Core, Python, JavaScript/React, and Azure
  • Design and implement user interfaces, APIs, application data structures, and business logic
  • Collaborate with the wider data and engineering teams to ensure alignment to architectural, governance, and performance standards
  • Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and testing processes to ensure high-quality releases
  • Support user testing, documentation, training, and troubleshooting where needed
  • Champion good data and application governance, including access control, security, and documentation
  • Help identify opportunities to improve user experience and operational efficiency across Apollo’s tech stack
