Description Summary/Objective Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager, the Application Engineer is primarily responsible for anything pertaining to the installation, use, operation, compatibility or function of equipment as applied to work vehicles such as Trucks, Motor Graders, Tractors, Wheel Loaders, Sidewalk Tractors. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions pertaining to their job responsibilities. Design, direct and manage truck equipment application projects. Including but not limited to truck chassis equipment layout with weight distribution, customizations, measurements for truck equipment installation and electrical & hydraulics schematics. Participate in order handoff from Sales to Installation, to ensure all components and equipment are compatible with chassis. Create and maintain Drive Works Configurators. Conceptualize and promote efficiencies in specifying, quoting, and installing equipment. The Applications Engineer will promote and drive modular building and improved installation efficiencies with a continuous improvement mindset. Manage custom and prototype design work within the applications department. Coordinate and ensure proper installation of equipment on truck chassis with the assistance of drawings, instructions, etc., as needed. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Knowledgeable use of common measuring devices such as tape measures, squares, protractors will be used routinely. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to grip, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift to 40 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel may be expected. All travel must be approved in advance by management. Please refer to the employee handbook for all applicable policies. Required Education and Experience 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design. In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software. Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including material selection, welding, fixturing, finishing and assembly. Impeccable attention to detail. Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and solve problems effectively. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Mechanical Engineering or related field. Similar or related product knowledge. Experience in a production environment. Working knowledge of machine assembly, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, linkage design, etc.
