Description

We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer with solid background in optical engineering and hands-on experience in testing silicon photonics devices. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with using optical and electrical test equipment (e.g., OSA, power meters, VNAs, probe stations) and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), specifically utilizing Advantest’s V93000 hardware and SmarTest 8 software. This role will be critical in developing, implementing, and optimizing test solutions for next-generation silicon photonics products.

Job Description:

  • Develop and debug test programs for silicon photonics devices using the Advantest V93000 ATE platform and suitable ancillary equipment
  • Prepare and execute pre-sales activities like customer presentations and benchmark projects
  • Design, implement and validate test methodologies for optical and electrical characterization of silicon photonics components and integrated circuits.
  • Manage the transfer of suitable test solutions from design into high volume manufacturing
  • Create project plans for complex projects and track project completion
  • Delivery of customer trainings and technical workshops

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent (ideally with the focus on optics/opto-electronics)3 years relevant experience in semiconductor business
  • Proven knowledge on optical measurements of electro-optical devices including proficient usage of required test instrumentation, fiber and connector assemblies, device probing/handling equipment & automation
  • Insights into silicon photonics high-volume manufacturing processes and test approaches, typical device architectures (such as MZI, MRR, couplers etc.) incl. their characteristics and dependencies (e.g. on polarization, wavelength)
  • Strong programming skills with proven experience with Linux operating system and Java programming language
  • Strong English language, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to lead projects / project management skills
  • Proactive, self-disciplined, and highly motivated
  • Distinguished customer facing skills with a pronounced support attitude
  • Ability and motivation to work in cross-functional project teams in a global environment/good team player
  • Driver license and flexibility to travel (up to 40%)
