Mind Computing is seeking an Application Package Tester to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as part of our enterprise desktop application deployment team. In this role, you will work closely with Application Packagers, Configuration Managers, and VA stakeholders to validate software packages for quality, compliance, and operational readiness prior to deployment to VA endpoints.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience in Windows environments, and familiarity with tools such as Microsoft PowerApps, SharePoint, and DBAT. You will be expected to execute structured test plans, troubleshoot functionality and installation issues, and provide feedback to refine package quality.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
- Validate application packages (.msi,.exe) developed by Packagers using structured test plans and test environments.
- Set up and maintain Virtual Machines or physical test environments for controlled testing scenarios.
- Use the Desktop Baseline Assessment Tool (DBAT) to validate successful installation, execution, and uninstallation of packages.
- Verify package compliance with VA packaging standards and document any discrepancies.
- Review build documents, compatibility test cases, and field-prep materials.
- Log and track testing results and defects using Microsoft PowerApps and SharePoint-based workflows.
- Participate in weekly packaging meetings and provide input on package readiness for field deployment.
- Communicate with Packagers and Configuration Managers to clarify test results and contribute to root cause analysis.
- Use PIV and Zero Trust test accounts as required for simulating end-user environments.
- Prioritize and execute emergency testing efforts in coordination with application intake and deployment timelines.
- Capture screenshots and maintain validation artifacts as part of final testing documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Technical related discipline.
- Experienced in creating new solutions beyond the area of familiarity to leverage market leaders and innovations in a broad range of technologies that bring business value and efficiency to the customer’s services and operations.
- Be able to communicate clearly in a matrixed environment and present briefings on technology capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate with program teams in developing technical standards, work plans, and estimates as well as requirement analysis, risk management, and technology Lifecycle plans and documentation.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with the Federal Government, tools, processes, and frameworks.
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Ability to obtain government clearance.
