The Graphene Engineering & Innovation Centre (GEIC) is a new facilities developed to establish the UK as a graphene research and technology ‘hub’ that will lead to the rapid commercialisation of graphene and 2D technologies in the UK. The Institutes are a part of an overall investment, building on the strong, and rapidly-expanding, UK research in this field and aims to take this research through to commercial success. Funded through EPSRC and ERDF, they will offer access to specialist facilities and equipment including state-of-the-art cleanrooms which enable the simulation of manufacturing processes. This world-class shared facility for graphene research and commercialisation activities will be accessible by both researchers and business.
Applications are invited for the position of Applications Specialist which is a full-time position. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to get involved in this exciting project from an early stage, in a field of work that is constantly growing and always at cutting edge of technology.
This is a varied job, involving a wide range of different activities and duties to play an important part in running our state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities to the highest standards. You will work with applications teams in the 2D materials membranes & coatings laboratories and facilities and work effectively with the GEIC technical support, to deliver a first class up-scale facility. You will be providing H+S service to world-class researchers, playing an important role in the timeliness and success of their experiments. You will also be responsible for ensuring regular/annual inspection and reporting schedules are carried out in accordance with the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) expectations.
