Description

An established business in Horsforth is looking to recruit an Applications Engineer. This is an office based role with responsibility for some face to face customer meetings, predominantly based on site, you’ll be predominantly handling inbound enquiries and providing customer support. You’ll also have responsibility for some proactive sales and follow ups.
An engineering or science related degree would be preferred.
The role offers significant benefits which include an excellent company pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution, 24 days holiday per year plus public holidays and the option of a 9 day fortnight working pattern.

Day to day duties and responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with existing clients by understanding their technical requirements and business challenges.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within designated territories.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for client inquiries from both technical staff and decision-makers.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations to showcase how our solutions address specific client needs.
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotations, and technical documentation in response to customer requirements and tender requests.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective strategies for market penetration and customer acquisition.
  • Provide after-sales technical assistance and support, including product training and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor performance metrics, ensuring the maintenance and calibration of deployed systems meet agreed specifications.
  • Work with service teams to resolve technical issues expediently, enhancing customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and technical support cases using CRM tools.
  • Provide regular reports on market trends, sales forecasts, and performance against targets to senior management.

Technical Proficiency:

  • In-depth understanding of relevant engineering or scientific principles, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear business benefits.
  • Familiarity with process instrumentation and engineered solutions is advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an applications engineering or technical sales and support role.
  • Previous experience in client-facing roles providing both pre-sales and post-sales support is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of measurement instruments and sensor technology.
  • Familiarity with technical specifications, CAD and data analysis tools is beneficial.

Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
