Overall purpose of role :
Creates detailed systems drawings and provides technical expertise to influence and maximise sales opportunities across MPT product lines. Helps to support and manage the execution of strategic projects from point of order to sign-off working with internal stakeholders and the customer.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Highly experienced in using AutoDesk Inventor & AutoCAD as well as 3DS Max, iLogic, Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with in-house software.
  • Sound understanding of engineering processes with powder handling or milling systems.
  • Understanding of control systems and control system architecture.
  • Ability to present complex technical information to external customers in way that demonstrates the business value proposition.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible with ability as a problem-solver, while able to utilise existing standard products.
  • Team player with the ability to manage complex projects and multi-task with minimal supervision.

Knowledge & Qualifications :

  • Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering/Design or HNC/HND Mechanical engineering/Design.
  • Previous experience in a technical sales or solution consulting role is essential, with knowledge of the capital goods industry being a distinct advantage.
  • Understanding of plant layouts & P&IDs
  • A working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics & control systems.
Responsibilities
  • Providing detailed information to the sales team including system layout drawings, rendered images and utility and project schedules.
  • Providing professional and detailed systems drawings and technical information to customers at the advanced sales stage. Carrying out technical presentations and deep dives on the full product range with potential customers, including powder handling subject matter experts.
  • Producing CAD drawings to assist the Sales team (using Autodesk 2D and Autodesk Inventor software).
  • Assisting the Sales team by generating accurate equipment costings and where required, write and/or review Sales proposals or quotes before being issued.
  • Influencing solutions with the use of standard products on strategic projects.
  • Providing guidance on achievable project delivery programmes for key projects.
  • Advising on technical risk reduction on key projects.
  • Producing clear and concise handover packs for the Operations team so that projects can be executed in accordance with agreed technical specifications.
  • Create tools and processes to streamline the system development workflow, enabling faster specification and job costing.
  • Supporting customer visits for pre-contract testing, meetings, project discussions and factory acceptance testing.
  • Build knowledge and skills in control systems and control system architecture.
  • Production of reports and presentations (using Word, Excel & PowerPoint), attending customer sites, exhibitions and conferences and on a regular basis.
  • Engaging with potential clients to establish rapport.
