OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist with a passion for Computer Vision, Deep Learning and On-Device AI Optimization to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and deploying software solutions that leverage AI at the edge to enhance the performance and capabilities of Wyze’s smart home devices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build intelligent systems that process data locally, ensuring real-time insights while optimizing cloud communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with AI inference engines and hardware accelerators (e.g., GPUs, NPUs, Edge AI chips).
  • Exposure to DevOps practices for edge devices, including continuous integration and automated testing.
  • Experience working with Wyze’s product ecosystem or similar smart home devices.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in developing and deploying computer vision and deep learning models, with a focus on edge devices and IoT.
  • Strong experience with C/C++, Python programming for model development and training.
  • Hands-on experience with model compression techniques such as quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation
  • Experience with machine learning/AI integration into edge devices, including familiarity with tools like TensorFlow Lite is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in software, firmware, and AI models

Responsibilities
  • Computer Vision Algorithm Development: Design and implement cutting-edge computer vision models for real-time applications on Wyze smart home devices.
  • Model Training & Optimization: Train deep learning models for various AI applications while applying techniques such as quantization, pruning, and knowledge distillation to optimize models for edge deployment.
  • Edge AI Deployment: Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless deployment of AI models on Wyze’s edge devices (smart cameras, sensors, home automation devices, etc.) with a focus on AI-powered capabilities.
  • Optimization & Performance: Continuously improve AI model performance, focusing on memory, processing power, and latency for AI-driven features.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with hardware, cloud, and AI teams to ensure smooth integration of edge solutions with Wyze’s overall ecosystem.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct thorough testing of AI models in real-world scenarios to ensure reliability, robustness, and adaptability to diverse environments.
