(Please note that if you are aged 17 in year 1 of your apprenticeship you will only receive age 18 salary in year 2)
We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 3. The Department of Corporate Resources would like to recruit someone who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE APPRENTICESHIP YOU MUST HAVE GCSE MATHS AND ENGLISH AT GRADES A-C OR 4-9 OR A MINIMUM OF LEVEL 1 OR ABOVE IN MATHS AND ENGLISH. (AN ASSESSMENT WILL TAKE PLACE BEFORE THE INTERVIEW STAGE).

Please note that if a candidate possesses a qualification at the same level or at a higher level in the same specific subject area as the advertised apprenticeship the candidate would not be eligible for apprenticeship funding and therefore must not apply. If unsure please enquire.

TO MEET THE APPRENTICESHIP FUNDING REQUIREMENTS, YOU MUST BE ENTITLED TO WORK IN THE UK AND HAVE BEEN A RESIDENT FOR 3 YEARS.

Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship.

AS THIS IS AN ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS AT THE SELECTION STAGE WILL BE ASSESSED FIRST ON NUMERACY/LITERACY SKILLS. ONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS FROM THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE PROCESS WILL BE INTERVIEWED.

The following special knowledge apply to this post:-

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy, literacy and accuracy across a range of activities.
  • The applicant is required to provide evidence of having previously spoken fluently in English in order to meet the advanced threshold level. You must be able to demonstrate that you can express yourself fluently and spontaneously (this will also be tested during the interview).
  • Able to use a range of IT packages (Outlook, Word, Excel) to maintain and update information systems accurately.
  • Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate information.
  • Has respected confidential information and not disclosed it inappropriately to others. Awareness of data protection and data security protocols.
  • Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficiently and effectively.
  • Legislation relating to local authority meetings.
  • Governance arrangements in local government.
  • How to support and record decision making meetings.
  • Roles and responsibilities of elected members and officers in local government
Responsibilities

To undertake an apprenticeship scheme within the Department of Corporate Resources for which the main purpose of the role is to:
1) Support the Council’s democratic decision making arrangements.
2) Deliver School Admission Appeals in accordance with the statutory code.
3) Enhance and improve the service’s electronic delivery of the Council’s democratic arrangements.

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.
