We are looking for an Apprentice Butcher to work 9 hours a day (6am to 3.30pm), 5 days a week including Saturdays in our production unit (Sunday & Monday off). They will be trained in all aspects of the meat industry but the main duties/tasks they will carry out will be within our production unit and includes sausage making, meat cutting, all aspects of curing – bacon, hams, charcuterie, salami, and of course cleaning.
They will be enrolled in our apprenticeship scheme with Meat Ipswich which is an on the job apprenticeship, generally taking 2 years to complete. The trainer comes to Lishman’s to assess the apprentice and we will train them on the job.
Lishman’s is a large retail shop employing 18 members of staff, we also sell a selection of our products to wholesale customers including bars, restaurants, farm shops and delis. Our British Charcuterie is a growing area for the business and this will be in important area for our new apprentice.
This is a very physical role and requires strength and working at a good pace. We are looking for someone who has a passion to work with meat, good attention to detail, keen to learn and good team player.
