This entry level Apprentice Chef position would suit anyone taking their first steps in their culinary career with the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team whilst studying for a Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification.
As an aspiring apprentice chef, you will learn best practice in kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene, how to prepare fresh ingredients, handle invoices, and create authentic pub classics and specials. Best of all you will get gain hands-on experience and learn the best operational practices in a busy and successful kitchen.

    Working Week: : Typical of a busy professional kitchen – hours are based around demand and will consist of 30 hours per week made up of Weekends plus one weekday in the pub and one day at college. - Shifts 11am-3pm and 5pm - 9pm.
    Salary: £11,778 per annum equating to £7.55 per hour for 16- to 18-year-olds in line with the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage. Higher starting salary for older apprentices. See further information below.
    Qualifications: GCSE Math and English minimum Grade 2 would be required to be eligible to apply for this apprenticeship. Functional Skills Maths and English may be considered or offered alongside the apprenticeship.
    About the Employer: Converted from a 17th century farmhouse, The Bull’s Head is a traditional English pub in Fishbourne with a reputation for fine food, excellent real ale and warm hospitality.   • Fresh Prep: Prepare meat and vegetables from fresh ingredients.
  • Invoices and Deliveries: Handle invoices and manage deliveries with traceability.
  • Authentic Cuisine: Cook authentic pub classics like fresh cod, burgers, and more.
  • Efficiency: Learn to buy products that save time and maximize efficiency for service.
  • Menu Preparation: Assist in menu preparation and learn signature dosages.
  • Special Dishes: Create specials that highlight unique ingredients, not just to clear stock.
