FOOD INDUSTRY TECHNOLOGIST APPRENTICE

Are you fascinated by the science behind food and eager to start a career in a fast-growing artisan dessert business? Our handmade dessert factory is offering a unique opportunity to train as a Level 3 Food Technologist Apprentice, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern food safety and quality standards.
This is more than just an entry-level role—it’s a platform into the technical heart of the food industry.

YOU’LL GAIN PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE IN:

· New Product Development (NPD): Supporting the creation and refinement of recipes, trialling new ingredients, and helping scale up artisan products for wider distribution

  • Quality Assurance (QA): Conducting checks on raw materials, finished goods, and packaging to ensure compliance with internal and external standards
  • Food Safety Systems: Learning how to implement and monitor HACCP, allergen controls, traceability, and hygiene protocols
  • Technical Documentation: Assisting with specification writing, supplier approvals, and audit preparation under BRCGS guidelines
  • Lab Work & Analysis: Supporting shelf-life testing, microbiological sampling, and sensory evaluations to maintain product integrity

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Educated to GCSE level, with Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths, Science and food technology will be an advantage.
  • Passionate about food and eager to learn the technical side of production
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and able to follow procedures precisely
  • Comfortable working in a kitchen and factory environment
  • Curious, proactive, and excited to contribute to a growing business

A genuine interest in food science is paramount, a commitment to learning with a flexible attitude, as working some evenings on a rota basis will be required to support the business, the requirements of the role and the apprenticeship.
