Are you ready to kick-start a hands-on career in the construction industry? Do you have a passion for learning a skilled trade and a determination to succeed? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you! Join our dynamic and forward-thinking team at HMS as an Apprentice Gas Engineer, where you will gain practical experience and develop valuable skills, working towards an NVQ Level 3 qualification. This is an 18-month apprenticeship. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to their assigned college or workplace as required.

Responsibilities
  • Learn to install, maintain, and service gas appliances to industry standards
  • Plan and organise work efficiently using tools, transport, and materials
  • Train in safe use of equipment and tools related to the role
  • Work within a scheduled appointment system and liaise with customers
  • Support diagnostics and pre-measuring to prepare for jobs
  • Use IT systems for instructions, work orders, and material requests
  • Learn to assess and communicate repair needs within guidelines
  • Accurately complete job documentation and input data
  • Take part in training and development through the company’s programmes
  • Manage van stock and materials to minimise waste
  • Follow health and safety procedures and report any incidents
  • Collaborate with schedulers, other teams, and contractors to complete work
  • Meet customer care standards and performance targets
  • Support team activities and carry out other tasks as needed
  • Attend college (day release or block) and complete all assessments
  • Participate in job-related training and ongoing development
