We will support you to achieve a Level 3 HR Support qualification, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and you will have the opportunity to be a part of a fast paced, dynamic and fun environment that rewards high performance.
This role is for someone that already has some office experience and wants to develop their career into the world of HR and Office Administration. As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience whilst gaining new skills and working alongside experienced staff.
Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training here at Step Change Outsourcing, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.
As our Apprentice HR Support & Administration Assistant you’ll play a critical part in our HR Team supporting the HR Lead on all thing’s employee administration related.
You’ll also be the important linchpin of our vibrant Stevenage office, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. Imagine yourself orchestrating a seamless office experience that leaves a lasting impression on both, staff and visitors. You’ll be the go-to person for all things office-related, from managing supplies to answering the phone.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the onboarding process and completing all employment checks and ensure that prospective staff have the right to work at the organisation and that we are in receipt of the required fit for purpose documentation e.g. appropriate references.
  • Assist with all HR administration such as, daily register, HR email inbox, holidays, sickness, return to works, maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
  • Assist with printing, scanning and filing of all types of personnel documents.
  • Assist with the on-going maintenance of employee records such as new starters, leavers, changes of address.
  • Ensure that contracts of employment and any other contractual documentation are in place and compliant.
  • General reception and telephone duties including the greeting of visitors, assist in organising meetings and maintaining Boardroom and Training room facilities.
  • Help with the smooth running of the office, including maintaining and replenishing office supplies.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal office hours if required.

Skills and experience:

Must have

  • GCSE Maths & English grade C/5 or above
  • One year of office experience working in an administrative environment
  • Some experience in MS Office tools; Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to build great relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Multi-tasking capability
  • Excellent time keeping and personal presentation
