Mi’KMA’KI-Municipal GP (MMGP) , a member of the Municipal Group of Companies is seeking Construction Labourers to support construction of renewable energy projects in the Wedgeport (Yarmouth) Area. MMGP through membership in the Municipal Group, is firmly embedded in the construction industry of Eastern Canada and as an organization we have been operating in the region for well over 50 years. As part of Nova Scotia’s transition to renewable energy, MMLP has been awarded a variety of projects in the region to support large scale wind farm development. Our work typically includes a variety of civil construction tasks including road building, water crossings, cast-in-place concrete, pre-cast concrete installation, and various other earthworks.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an Apprentice Labourer to join our construction team. Under the guidance of the Foreman and experienced crew members, the Apprentice Labourer will support daily worksite operations while learning the skills and best practices required for a successful career in construction. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are eager to gain hands-on experience, build knowledge, and grow within the industry.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Interest in learning and developing skills in the construction trade
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Willingness to perform physically demanding work in a variety of conditions
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
Commitment to following safety rules and procedures at all times
Reliability and a positive attitude are essential
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
No prior construction experience required; training will be provided
High school diploma or equivalent considered an asset
Previous labour or construction experience is an asset but not mandatory
Assist with loading, unloading, and moving construction materials around the worksite
Support tasks such as digging, spreading, and levelling dirt, gravel, or other materials
Help with site cleanup, including removing rubble and debris
Maintain clean and organized tools, equipment, and work areas
Perform a variety of manual labour tasks as directed by the Foreman or crew leads
Learn and follow construction site safety procedures and practices
Stay aware of surroundings to ensure safety of self and others on the jobsite
Participate in training and on-the-job learning opportunities to develop trade skills
Perform other duties as assigned to support the team
