Job Description Our Process Plant Maintenance team have an opening for an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter. This role will work 7 days on / 7 days off, 7am - 7pm daily. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, this role will likely progress to a fully qualified Maintenance Fitter role, taking on more complex repair and maintenance tasks. This position will involve carrying out routine mechanical maintenance of the process plant and entire site equipment to the required standards of performance and safety under the guidance and instruction of the mechanical maintenance supervisor. Key tasks and responsibilities: Carries out routine mechanical maintenance on process plant and site assets, as directed by Mechanical Supervisor Actively seeks guidance and knowledge from qualified maintenance fitters to develop technical skills. Accurately records all fault repair information into computerised maintenance management system to ensure all future planning can be improved. Actively provides suggestions and alternatives for improvements to maintenance and operational processes Assists with electrical maintenance or plant operation as required. Is available for standby as rostered and as required during plant breakdowns. Ensures that the workshop and yard are kept tidy and that the plant site is left tidy after maintenance work is carried out. Complies with all health & safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures. Undertakes all requirements of the training programme to attain the necessary qualifications. Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required Qualifications Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred. If new to the industry a degree of mechanical aptitude would be desirable. If some experience has already been attained, then exposure to jobbing engineering or heavy industries or alternatively exposure to mining or mineral processing industries would be useful. Experience: Must have effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse a problem in order to select an appropriate solution. Good written and oral interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen to and convey information to achieve a positive result. A commitment to the training programme including attending block courses and completing the unit standards. To contribute to the departmental and organisational decision-making process where appropriate.
