Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn and obtain experience in the fundamentals of mechanical and electrical engineering, primarily through training at a local recognised training centre in your first year. Years 2-4 will be onsite at Banbury, with day-release during year 2 to complete the BTEC Level 3 in Advance Manufacturing Engineering, with the potential of going on to complete an HNC in years 3 & 4 (subject to performance and suitability).
Your apprenticeship will last for a minimum of 4 years, during which time you will gain experience in the range of engineering functions across our business.
Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be taught, and will put into practice, engineering skills which will be key for an engineering role within Newly Weds Foods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – YOU WILL BE TRAINED ON THESE THROUGHOUT YOUR APPRENTICESHIP:

  • Identify, diagnose and rectify faults/breakdowns in a timely safe manner, communicating and offering solutions
  • Carry out planned Preventative Maintenance activities and offer improvements and additions to the Preventative Maintenance plans to streamline and improve the system wherever possible.
  • Prioritise and manage workload ensuring minimum impact on production efficiency
  • Comply with standards of Health and Safety, hygiene, quality and food safety
  • Ensure that all tasks are conducted safely and to the highest standards of hygiene
  • Conduct and support continuous improvement activities
  • Adapt an ‘Always Audit Ready’ approach
  • Ensure all relevant reports are completed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Ensure engineering stock is kept up to date and at the required stock levels
  • Assist in Factory start up, machine testing and supporting all manufacturing facilities
  • To undertake additional training, not part of your apprenticeship, as required
  • To be involved in project work as directed
  • To work at all times in accordance with all company policies
  • To undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job
