Description
The Apprentice Mechanic has the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. * Maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment * Interprets work orders and technical manuals * Keeps equipment clean, lubricated and maintained * Diagnoses faults or malfunctions * Adjust equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems * Obey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rules * Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan * Ability to perform physical requirements of the job * Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing * Ability to work in all weather conditions * Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills * Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity * Waste industry experience, a plus * Completion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus * Experience with routine maintenance operations is required Qualifications * Ability to perform physical requirements of the job * Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing * Ability to work in all weather conditions * Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills * Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity * Waste industry experience, a plus * Completion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus * Experience with routine maintenance operations is required
