TRAINING & QUALIFICATION

You will work towards:

  • Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Optional Medicines Counter Assistant Course accredited by the GPhC
  • In-house training and mentoring from our experienced team
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

You will have one day per week allocated for your apprenticeship training, with the remainder of the week gaining hands-on experience in the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking to recruit a motivated Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice to join our innovative, friendly team of qualified professionals.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in pharmacy. For the right person, there is the potential to secure a permanent role and progress to higher-level qualifications, such as the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Dispensing medication to patients under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Over-the-counter sales of non-prescription medicines
  • Checking and monitoring prescription slips
  • Using pharmacy software for data entry and labelling
  • Stock rotation, date checking, and maintaining a tidy dispensary
  • Housekeeping duties
  • Liaising with GP’s and other healthcare professionals
  • Following all health and safety responsibilities and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assisting in maintaining accurate record-keeping and prescription filing
  • Providing excellent customer service and advice, referring to the pharmacist where needed
  • Completing apprenticeship coursework on time
