Description

ABOUT US

Our strategic road network is vital to connecting the country, carrying a third of all traffic and two-thirds of freight. Every single day, National Highways get millions of people to where they need to be as efficiently and safely as possible along more than 4,500 miles of motorways and major A roads. We bring people together, keep businesses moving and help communities to stay connected.
We’re constantly innovating to stay ahead of the curve in building and operating our roads, investing in both the right projects and the brightest talent to help shape our future. And that’s where you come in!

Responsibilities

On our three-year programme, you will be mentored and supported by experienced professionals to develop the knowledge and skills to support National Highways in managing risk, hazards and response to major incidents.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity, no two days will be the same and you could find yourself planning for anything from a major weather event to a terrorist attack.

As part of your role and through your learning programme, you’ll learn lots of different skills, including how to:

  • Plan and prepare for a wide variety of emergency situations.
  • Coordinate the response to incidents and recovery after the event.
  • Work with stakeholders before, during, and after an incident
  • Assess how hazards and threats might impact the network
  • Research, assess and anticipate emerging threats to get insights into possible emergency planning.

You’ll complete a Level 6 undergraduate degree apprenticeship in Resilience and emergencies management that will open the door to a rewarding career in risk management and emergency planning and response roles.
