Location: Bangalore (or applicable location) Duration: 12 Months (Apprenticeship Program) Job Overview We are seeking enthusiastic Apprentice Trainees to join our engineering teams as part of a 1-year apprenticeship program. This role is intended for graduates in Computer Science / Information Science / Information Technology / Electronics & Communication Engineering, who are interested in working on testing and validation of medical instruments and software systems. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience in medical device testing, validation processes, and quality standards, working closely with experienced engineers in a regulated environment. Key Responsibilities · Perform functional, integration, and system-level testing of medical instruments and associated software. Willingness to perform Manual , Automation , Instrumentation & Performance Testing. · Support execution of test cases, test plans, and validation protocols · Assist in verification and validation (V&V) activities for medical devices · Identify, log, and track defects using defect management tools · Support automation of test scenarios, where applicable · Work with cross-functional teams . · Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO, FDA-related practices as applicable) · Document test results, observations, and deviations in a structured manner · Assist in troubleshooting issues observed during testing and validation phases · Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and tools Learning & Development · Gain exposure to medical device lifecycle, compliance, and regulatory testing environments · Learn industry-standard practices for quality assurance, validation, and documentation · Develop hands-on experience with testing tools, lab setups, and instrumentation · Receive mentorship and periodic performance feedback Eligibility Criteria · Bachelor’s degree (B.E / B.Tech) in: o Computer Science o Information Science o Information Technology o Electronics & Communication · Strong academic background · Basic understanding of software testing principles or electronics fundamentals Required Skills · Analytical thinking and attention to detail (critical for testing and validation work) · Basic programming knowledge (C/C++/Python/Java) is a plus · Understanding of testing concepts (manual testing, test cases, defect tracking) · Strong documentation and reporting skills · Good communication and teamwork abilities · Willingness to learn and work in a regulated medical device environment Preferred Skills (Optional) · Exposure to embedded systems, instrumentation, or hardware testing · Familiarity with test automation frameworks or scripting · Awareness of quality and regulatory standards (ISO 13485, FDA basics, etc.) · Experience with tools like Jira, ADO, or similar test/defect tracking tools ATTENTION: Current Alcon Employee/Contingent Worker If you are currently an active employee/contingent worker at Alcon, please click the appropriate link below to apply on the Internal Career site.
