Through a blend of on-the-job learning and guided development, apprentices build the professional and technical skills needed to succeed in a global organization.   About the Team Team Overview – Internal Identity Engineering The Internal Identity Engineering team is responsible for building and operating secure, scalable, and automated identity services that enable employees, contractors, partners, and systems to access Pearson platforms safely and efficiently. The team operates at the intersection of security, automation, and platform engineering, focusing on: * Identity lifecycle management (Joiner–Mover–Leaver) with real‑time HR integration * Identity Governance & Access Reviews using Microsoft Entra Identity Governance * Single Sign‑On (SSO) and authentication platform modernization * Privileged Access Management (PAM) and non‑human identity controls * Zero Trust identity foundations, compliance, and audit readiness * Cloud‑first identity platforms spanning Entra ID, Active Directory, and automation tooling The team works closely with HR/HRIS, Enterprise Security, Architecture, and Platform Engineering to deliver a resilient, compliant, and user‑centric identity experience at enterprise scale.   About the Role Apprentice, Identity Engineering Duration: 12 months Experience: Final‑year engineering students or graduates with 0–3 years experience Conversion Opportunity: High‑performing apprentices may be offered full‑time roles at the end of the program based on performance and business needs.   Role Overview As an Identity Engineering Apprentice, you will gain hands‑on experience working on real enterprise identity platforms used by tens of thousands of users globally. You will be mentored by senior engineers and contribute to live initiatives across identity automation, security, and cloud platforms. This role is ideal for engineers who are curious about how security, automation, and cloud platforms work together at scale.   Key Responsibilities   During the apprenticeship, you will progressively work on: Identity Platforms & Automation * Assist in building and maintaining Joiner–Mover–Leaver (JML) automation integrated with HR systems * Support Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD configurations, identity lifecycle workflows, and dynamic groups * Contribute to SSO onboarding and application integrations * Assist with identity governance workflows, access packages, and access reviews Security & Compliance * Support Zero Trust identity controls, conditional access policies, and least‑privilege models * Assist in audit readiness, access review evidence, and compliance automation (e.g., SOX‑related controls) * Learn privileged access concepts and non‑human identity governance Engineering & Operations * Contribute to PowerShell, scripting, or automation tasks for identity operations * Assist in monitoring, incident analysis, and service improvements * Work with Jira Service Management workflows and operational runbooks * Participate in documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement           Desirable Skills and Attributes   Essential (Entry‑Level Friendly) * Strong fundamentals in:  * Programming and scripting knowledge in Python, PowerShell, Java etc. * Basic understanding of software development concepts, OOPS concepts, databases, or system integrations * Willingness to learn identity, security, and cloud concepts * Good analytical and problem‑solving skills * Clear written and verbal communication   Nice to Have (Not Mandatory) * Basic understanding of:  * Authentication vs authorization * Active Directory or Azure AD / Entra ID * REST APIs or automation concepts * Networking fundamentals (DNS, HTTP/S, authentication basics) * Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) * Interest in cybersecurity, identity, or platform engineering Eligibility Criteria * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field * Recent graduates or candidates with less than one year of experience are encouraged to apply. * Must meet requirements under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 and be registered on the NATS portal. * Must be legally eligible to work in India.
